Before Brie Larson became our favourite superhero In the MCU, she was first a Supervillain!
Captain Marvel, a superhero from Marvel Studios, maybe the part for which Brie Larson is best recognized. But one of her best performances was as the evil Envy Adams in Edgar Wright's mind-blowing Scott Pilgrim vs. the World adaption. Despite being a box financial dud, the film has gained cult status and is currently available for streaming on Peacock.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a hallucinogenic movie experience that was adapted from graphic novels by Canadian author and illustrator Bryan O'Malley. The movie embraces the look of its inspiration and incorporates graphic elements from comic books and video games into its live-action footage without making any attempt at realism.
The lead singer of the popular indie band The Clash at Demonhead and the ex-girlfriend of the movie's title character, played by Michael Cera, Envy Adams, played by Brie Larson, bursts into the scene and steals the show. Early in 2009, Larson joined the cast of Scott Pilgrim and was announced among other well-known actors joining the picture, such as Chris Evans and Brandon Routh.
The 2010 debut of the comic book movie coincided with the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There were many actors there who have played superheroes or will in the future. Brandon Routh had already been Superman, Brie Larson and Chris Evans joined the Avengers, and Aubrey Plaza was about to make her Marvel debut.
Popular musicians like Beck and Metric, whose song "Demonhead" served as the inspiration for The Clash at Demonhead, donated a ton of high-octane music to the movie. In addition, the trio provided Demonhead with their original song, "Black Sheep".
As a trained singer, Brie Larson contributed her vocal rendition to the song in the movie to give it the evil Envy Adams vibe. She portrayed herself as a parody of Emily Haines, the lead vocalist of Metric. When Larson gave the song's live performance while filming Scott Pilgrim, she claimed that she discovered physical prowess she had no idea she possessed.
Now, without a doubt, Brie Larson has done pretty well for herself in the Hollywood movie industry going from smaller roles like her upcoming Apple series, Lessons in Chemistry to Just Mercy to bigger roles like Captain Marvel and the latest being The Marvels which we are so excited for.
Anyway, it's not just luck that she is an outstanding actress but Larson has been acting since the late 1990s, but Scott Pilgrim was the movie that propped her up and gave her a space to really shine.
What's more? Recently, the Hollywood star was part of a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
In terms of what to expect from our shining star, Brie Larson, well, she does have a lot in the works, including her next superhero outing in this fall’s The Marvels. And She is also attached to leading a spy thriller series which is more like one of the most intriguing If not the most projects on Larson’s lineup.
Despite having a talented cast, Pilgrim didn't perform well at the box office. The movie had a production expenditure of roughly $85 million, and throughout its theatrical run, it made little under $50 million.
But those who viewed the movie understood its worth.
Since playing Scott Pilgrim, Brie Larson's career has taken off. The actor, director, and producer have starred in several films, including King Kong: Skull Island, Room, 21 Jump Street, and Captain Marvel. She also co-wrote Scott Pilgrim with Michael Bacall and acted in 21 Jump Street.
